The Truth Will Set You Free. . . or Not
Some Folks Cannot See or Hear It
Right now, all around us, people are incapable of acknowledging truth, facts, or reality. They cannot or will not accept what is happening right in front of their eyes. This denial is classic with people in relationships with a pathological narcissist.
When they have entered the share fantasy with the person with NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) or psychopathy, they are unreachable. They cannot see you. They cannot hear you. They dwell in an alternate reality behind walls that are impenetrable. It is documented in research, spoken about by experts, and I myself can offer anecdotal evidence through my own experience of sixteen years behind the impenetrable wall with my disordered husband.
How can this be that people allow themselves to become so separated from what is real and authentic? Their friends and family watch in horror as the entranced and brain-scrubbed loved one just disappears into the ether, the ether that becomes home with the narcissist. It;s as if they choose to follow their beloved predator into a vipers nest where they cozy up with them in a bed of poisonous snakes. How can something so horrific be so true? In the shared fantasy, both parties are divorced from reality, indulge in magical thinking, and are mutually psychotic. That is their truth.
