The parallel between an empath and a supernova is undeniable.

Stars die because they exhaust their fuel, and in the same way, the narcissist/sociopath discards the empath when the fuel has become weak or stale. Once there is no fuel left, the star collapses and the outer layers explode as a supernova.

Sometimes the explosion happens quickly as the narcopath cycles through the three stages of the relationship with some degree of speed and acuity. There are some stars like Betelgeuse that live fast and die violently. They explode in stellar events that can be seen across the galaxy, and while still relatively young, (Betelgeuse is only about 8.5 million years old), astronomers can determine that it is nearing the end of its life. Empaths can end in a similar trajectory, enjoying the blissful golden period with the narcissist only to be quickly devalued and abruptly discarded and left to die. It could all happen in three weeks or three decades depending on the type of narcissist/sociopath, the quality of fuel, the external benefits to be gained (money, status, power) and also depending on the degree of childhood wounding, attachment disorders, or relationship addiction the empath may possess.
