There are many things that can get in the way of recovery from narcissistic abuse, and some of them can seem harmless and even helpful. That is not always the case. Some of the things we choose to assist in creating new, stronger versions of ourselves can actually do more harm then good.

Spiritual bypassing is a way of hiding behind spirituality, alternative practices, or misguided advice that prevents people from acknowledging what they are feeling and distances them from both themselves and others.

And then there are other therapies and well meaning people who can unravel any possibility for progress. Being beware of the potential for harm can help you navigate the journey toward wellness and ultimate freedom.
