Santa is a Boomer, Baby!

So he’s line dancing at a local Meetup and playing dominoes after his 4:00 pm dinner at Luby’s.

Getting old sucks. Let’s try to remember that this year, especially since our favorite white-haired pre-diabetic in red is one of the club (maybe leave some hummus and veggies in place of those sugary cookies with some lactose-free milk). Boomers comprise a very big club and counting. This growing demographic deserves attention since their numbers will invariably shape the future of senior lifestyles for those who will soon follow.

Here are a few considerations Santa and all his Boomer buddies should be thinking about.

Health care is important in the event of an injury on the job or while out and about. It is often a troublesome issue, especially for those older individuals who have not yet aged into Medicare. With the current attack on subsidized public programs like social security and Medicaid, Medicare stands the risk of being plundered and pillaged in coming years by Scrooge-like predators who seek to save a buck and balance budgets on the backs of our seniors. A lump of coal for all the Grinchy policymakers is all they deserve.

Picture dear old retired Santa kickin’ back in an underfunded, understaffed pee-infused nursing home. Much better to age in place at the pole or wherever you call home. Choices for elders trying to…
