The word “narcissist” is an evocative attention grabber that is used recklessly and without any depth of understanding about all the complex things that come with it. And to make matter worse, it is used so often that it has desensitized the masses to the point that they have accepted it as a common and even inevitable part of modern society. Think of all the leaders and movers and shakers who are somewhere on the spectrum and often on the malignant end. It is inescapable. Everybody knows one. Or two. Or maybe a lot more.

And the numbers appear to be increasing as society’s acceptance of them is increasing as well. In today’s world, would you rather be a poor and powerless worker bee or a rich and powerful narcissist or psychopath? Look around. You lnow the answer.

There are a lot of things we get wrong about this glorified magnificent beast (if they’re winning) or demonic predator (if they just kicked you to the curb). Let’s look at some of the things we get wrong and then examine the facts.
