The irreverent and wise Sophia Bell, narcissism queen bee, recently remarked, “The whole “it was all fake” isn’t true. It was very, very real. The narcissist really believed they loved you. Then they really knew they didn’t. It was a very real manifestation of their disorder, and their disorder is extremely real. It was all very real. To you and to the narcissist. None of it was fake. All of it was disordered.”

Talk about cognitive dissonance and gaslighting yourself. And don’t get me started on the shared fantasy with delusions and magical thinking. How could we fall so hard and so fast and so deep into the rabbit hole of narcissistic madness?

These are some very sick puppies.

And after they are gone, that sickness has infected us, too.

So, let’s jump in. Let’s start by examining this alternate universe and why it was so appealing to those of us who could not resist. Before the narcissist, we possessed strengths, virtues, qualities, and identities that reflected our empathetic selves, albiet most likely also suffering from some kind of early wounding or an identity created by…
